So..here it is…right in front of you – Hyundai’s next assassin which will gun for the Duster, Terrano and others in the compact SUV segment. These are the first completely undisguised images of the car which have made way, possibly from the factory itself, credit Team-BHP. This is interesting, as Hyundai has invited us for a media drive of Creta towards the end of this month and they have cleared that no photographs of the car will be allowed. Clearly, they wanted to keep the design a secret, for some more time….
However, there is another picture set where the car has been snapped testing out in the open without wearing any camouflage! So, possibly, a change of strategy somewhere…. Nonetheless, as expected, Creta is identical to ix25 the company showcased in China, save for that chrome grille and a few other minor bits.
It looks a true Hyundai with those flowing headlamps, Korean design and a compact profile. We can notice projector headlamps, daytime running lights, fog lamps, alloy wheels, blackened A-pillar and roof-rails, apart from the side and rear skirting. The rear gets a chrome bar over the number plate and a relatively toned down design.
Creta is touted to be launched towards the end of next month, possibly on 21st. Engine options are expected to be the 1.6 liter petrol and diesel duo as well as the 1.4 liter diesel from the Verna.
Hyundai has also confirmed that Creta will get an automatic gearbox, which will be a first in the segment. In terms of prices, we expect Creta to start at around 8 Lakhs for the entry diesel variants and span across till 13 odd lakhs for the top trims…
