While the loom of the guillotine hangs over the neck of the Tata Nano, the manufacturer is still trying its level best to make things work. The Nano Twist, which was launched last year, has been given another variant, the Nano Twist XE, to help bolster some sales and help the Nano get a grip over the situation.
The Nano Twist XE carries a price tag of Rs 2,06,076 and sits under the Nano Twist XT which retails for Rs 2,43,036 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
The car loses out on body coloured bumpers, ORVMs and door handles, chrome strips on the front and rear, fog lamps, roof beading, rear spoiler and roof mounted antenna. The interiors also carry a black theme with an ebony black dashboard and black upholstery. Further, it doesn’t get the AmphiStream music system and remote keyless entry.
The essence of bringing the Nano Twist last year, was the inclusion of electronic power assisted steering (EPAS). Nano Twist XE shares the brushless type Electric Power Assisted Steering with the Twist XT, however, Tata’s website goofs up on that. It also gets AC as standard but misses out on the heater. The front power windows, 12 volt power socket and central locking of the XT are also not offered on the XE.
Against the five color options of the XT, Nano Twist XE comes in the following three color options…
- Meteor Silver
- Royal Gold
- Serene White
It continues with the same 624cc 2 cylinder petrol engine capable of producing 38PS of power and 51Nm of torque, mated to a 4 speed gearbox.
With this, Nano XE becomes the most affordable power steering equipped car and should be able to add a few units to Tata Nano’s monthly tally!
