Chevrolet India Recalls 1.55 Lakh Units of Spark, Beat & Enjoy

General Motors India has announced a voluntary recall of 1,55,000 units of the Chevrolet Spark, Beat and Enjoy. Affected units are said to have been manufactured between 2007 and 2014. This though is not related to the global recall surge due to faulty airbags supplied by the Japanese component manufacturer Takata Inc.

The reason for this particular recall is a fault in the remote keyless entry accessory issue. Although recalls are not mandatory in the country, General Motors India as well as other manufacturers voluntary recall defective batches.

The remote keyless entry accessory allows access to the vehicle without manually inserting the key and turning it. Although the fitted accessory meets industry regulations, some isolated cases have been known to be faulty. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost by the company.

The company is contacting customers individually about the recall and also, how and when to bring in their vehicles for inspection and correction.  Alternatively, customers can also contact their nearest Chevrolet’s web of the 257 odd service centres in the country and schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and replacement.
