Ford EcoSport will now longer be available at the starting price of 5.59 lakhs. To offset rising input costs, Ford India has hiked the prices of all the trims of EcoSport. The upward trend in prices comes as a result of consistently belligerent conditions in the economy. A ballooning inflation, steep interest rates as well as a sliding rupee have led to the price revision.
The rise in prices comes within less than three months of the launch of the Ford EcoSport. Prices have increased by around 30000/- INR to 50000/- INR, depending on the variant. Ford India had made this statement on the 5th of September, and it was effective immediately.
Here are a few changes after the price revision :
- The 1.5 Litre petrol Ambiente version is now up by 26,000/- from 5.59 lakhs to 5.85 lakhs
- The top-end Titanium (O) has risen from 8.99 lakhs to 9.40 lakhs
Ford India, however, hasn’t disclosed the details of the price revision. They just stated that their input costs have been rising steadily for quite some time. The trend is expected to continue into the future. Ford India also admitted that though they were able to absorb cost increases in the past, situations have come to such a pass now that warranted the price revision. This move by Ford India comes close on the heels of similar price increases by other manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, General Motors India and BMW. Many other automakers are likely to follow suit.
