The new 2014 Honda Fit has been creating flutter ever since it broke cover. Sometime back, there was a set of leaked brochure scan images which we had talked about. Fit is known by the name of Jazz in India, and it has never set any good sales going.
The new Jazz is expected to come to India in early 2014. While in other countries, the Fit will sport a hybrid engine, we Indians might have to stay contented with the conventional engines. It is quite understandable, the reason being the myopic Indian Government policy of high import duties on hybrids.
Nevertheless, let’s drift back to the point. Honda has updated details & official pics of new 2014 Fit/Jazz at their official Japanese website. However, the performance and the specifications tab still links back to those of the old Honda Fit. Honda’s top officials have stated that the Fit was developed keeping in mind the Volkswagen Polo.
MotorTrends has already driven the New Honda Jazz and we had talked in detail about what we could expect from the new car. It is now also known that the New Fit will be launched in Japan sometime in September. India, however, will have to wait till the next year to get its hands on the new Jazz.
In India, the engines on offer are expected to be the 1.2L petrol i-VTEC alongside the 1.5L i-DTEC Diesel engine. The 1.5 Liter hybrid mill that will power the new Honda Fit in other countries had been claimed to achieve a fuel efficiency of 36.4 kmpl!
What Honda has promised is that the new Jazz will come with a higher level of localization in India and hence, an attractive price tag. With the 1.5L diesel engine in the lineup, new 2014 Jazz is all set to give a very tough fight to the current best selling hatchbacks in the premium segment.
