In a press note released to media, Ford India has officially announced the launch of its 2014 Ford Classic sedan at new price points starting at INR 4.99 lacs. Starting today (January 22) the entire Ford Classic range will be available between INR 4.99 lacs and INR 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). About a week ago, we carried a story about the very same Classic Fiesta and the mouth-watering price tag accompanying the car.
Confirming the price revision, Ford India says that it has become possible for them to reduce prices because of benefits accrued to the company through operational efficiencies. Let’s hope more motor manufacturers follow suit. Amen.

The Classic from Ford is the Fiesta sedan first introduced in 2005 and comes with a total of 6 models; 3 each for petrol and Diesel. The 1.6 liter Duratec Petrol LXi, priced at INR 4.99 lacs, is the most pocket-friendly model of them all and boasts of 100 bhp with 146 Nm. The Classic CLXi and top of the line Titanium models are pretty much similar to the LXi; only difference being the body colors and trim levels. The Titanium is priced at INR 6.5 lacs.
The 1.4 liter Duratorq diesel range starts at INR 6.39 lacs for its LXi version and goes up to INR 7.59 lacs for its Titanium model. The Classic diesel naturally lacks the pep of its petrol brethrens, but comes with the economy offered by the TDCi diesel powerplant.
Ford Classic comes with features like:
- programmable keyless entry
- Bluetooth Audio with speed sensing volume controls
- rear defogger
- ORVM integrated side blinkers
- ABS with EBD
- Two front airbags
This makes the Ford Classic petrol the best driver’s car in this segment which has competition in the form of sub 4 meter rivals like Dzire, Amaze and many upcoming ones. It has a fine balance of power burst, composed handling and ‘fun-to-drive’ factor. 100 bhps do not come cheaper than this, guys. If you fancy yourself as a rally pro, go for one of the petrol models.
