The Czech manufacturer Skoda unveiled the new Yeti at the Auto Expo in February and is now all set to launch it in India in July according to etauto.com . The compact SUV is to bring in a design change and new interiors.
The new Yeti gets a completely new front and rear end. The front grille is surrounded by chrome. New head lamp cluster has sharper looks and is a bixenon unit integrated with LED daytime running lights. They are also wider than the previous unit. The new, redesigned front bumper has new fog lamps which are larger and rectangular and are placed lower than the previous version.
The logo is now embedded in the bonnet and not on the front grille giving it an impression of a nose. The 2014 Yeti also gets the new butterfly grille which debuted on the Octavia here. To accommodate these changes, the bonnet has also undergone mods.
The rear end has a new tail lamp cluster which also gets LEDs, arranged in the typical ‘C’ which Skoda so dearly loves. Although the vehicle width remains the same, the reshaped rear gives the car a broader feel. On the inside, the car gets a new steering wheel, instrumentation cluster and audio system. The same ride height gives an impressive and commanding view of the road to the driver and the ease of driving it thanks to its compact size will further enhance its credentials here.
The engine remains the same 2.0L TDI with two different power options:
- 110PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque, with a 5 speed manual transmission delivering the power to the front wheels.
- 140PS of power with 320Nm of torque with a 6 speed manual transmission delivering power to all four wheels.
Skoda claims an efficiency figure of 17kmpl. The present generation of the Yeti is priced in the range of Rs 15.19lac to Rs 18.82lac (both ex-showroom, Delhi). A slight increase in prices can be expected in the new version and that is where it starts loosing out!
