Skoda Auto reported that Indian market is very significant for them and will expand its favorable market position further.

Last year, Skoda had not only increased its sales by 50 percent to 30,005 units but also increases the market share to 1.31 percent, the company said.

The Skoda Rapid, a compact saloon segment car launched in late 2011 shows great success in India. This year will be the first full sales year for Rapid and the company expect it to drive up total sales in India.

The company expects China, India and Russia would become the fastest growing markets for Skoda in near future. Skoda also comments that it wants to increase their global sales to at least 1.5 million by 2018 by bringing a new model around every six months. To make this happen, Skoda is doing important investments in capacities.
