The Next-Gen Hyundai Santa Fe has been caught testing on Indian roads for some time now. Hyundai has been bullish about their growth plans, and are turning on the heat with some brilliantly designed and amply feature-packed models. Recently, they stole media attention with their Grand i10.
Apart from the upcoming compact sedan based on the Grand i10, could the new Santa Fe be the next big thing for the Korean carmaker in India?? Its earlier iteration was an insipid seller in India.
One of our readers, Aswath Sivakumar, has spied the New Hyundai Santa Fe undergoing test runs near the Hyundai factory in Irungatukotai alongside an Elantra and have shared some hi-resolution shots of the upcoming SUV. Though completely obscured by the camouflage, the fluidic lines of the newer model as compared to the outgoing one stand out.
Ashwath initially thought this could be the Hyundai’s upcoming unnamed compact SUV that has been spotted in a few international markets (Check rendering here). However, upon a little closer inspection, it became very evident that this is the same Santa Fe mule that has been spotted in India earlier.
The 2013 Santa Fe was introduced at last year’s New York Motor Show and has already made an entry into several markets. It is available internationally with a host of engine options including two petrol engines and a 2.2 litre diesel mill. These engines are mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox, with manual being available as well.
The newer Santa Fe will carry the Fluidic design theme of Hyundai. This new design theme has been a roaring success for Hyundai in India and the glaring examples of it are the Hyundai Verna and the Elantra. The New Santa Fe’s interiors are supposed to be better than the earlier iteration.
Here are some features offered on the new Santa Fe in some markets :
– Hill Assist
– ESP
– 18/19-inch alloy wheels
– Touchscreen infotainment system
– Satellite navigation
– Xenon headlamps
– Day-time running LED lamps
– Multiple airbags
– Keyless entry and push start
– Reverse parking camera
– Tyre pressure monitor
This new Santa Fe could be launched by this year end. There is an utter probability of it being priced in the range of 22-25 lakhs.
Will you choose it over the Toyota Fortuner??
