All of a sudden CNG powered cars are making a lot of news. Have the companies started quickening their CNG launches after the Rs 5 diesel hike, we are not sure, but it definitely seems so!
A little while back, we shared with you the news of Hyundai launching CNG versions of a few cars. We have also seen a CNG Nano being tested. Honda is on the verge of launching a CNG version of City sedan and now Indian Autos Blog has published a pic of a CNG powered Indigo eCS compact sedan spotted somewhere around Tata’s plant in Pune.
If carefully noticed, there is a CNG sticker at the rear windshield which is a give-away to what powers this test mule. It is easy to guess that the Indigo eCS CNG would be powered by the same 1.2L 64PS mill with an added option of CNG. How would Tata cope with power loss would be interesting to see.
Expected to launch around this festive season, Indigo eCS CNG would make a real good buy considering it would be a lot lesser in price than the CR4 loaded eCS diesel.
