SPOTTED: BMW X1’s Rival Volvo V40 Cross Country Reaches Dealerships; Launch Very Near

About a month back we discussed about Volvo’s future plans for India, where it was also confirmed that the Swedish manufacturer will launch their most affordable Volvo V40 Cross Country here.

Volvo really wants to enter the volume segment in premium car space and their ammunition seems to be just right against the current crop we have in India.  Now, building on that development, this Volvo’s tiny-tot was spotted at a dealer’s yard in Kochi. Mr. Anand has managed to click the following picture and has shared it on his Twitter account.

The V40 Cross Country will be imported to India as Completely Built Units (CBU), and hence Volvo might not be able to price it at a price they might have wanted – bang around it’s competitors BMW X1, Merc B-Class and Audi Q3. V40 Cross Country is expected to be priced between Rs 25 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh which still makes it a very luring preposition for all those who love to be housed in the safety of a Volvo. The Indian V40 Cross Country will only have 2WD drivetrain and there will be 2 engine options – 1.6-Liter Petrol and 2.0-Liter Diesel.

Since Volvo is considering setting up a plant in India, the V40 Cross Country could be locally assembled in India, and then the prices might go down. Volvo targets to secure it’s position among the top 3 players of the Indian Luxury car market by the end of this decade. In order to achieve that, the company plans to increase it’s number of dealerships to 43 and sell 20,000 units by the year 2020.
