With the Jeep brand finally expected to head over to India at the upcoming Auto Expo, one can only but wait for the fire crackers to be set ablaze. But the real cracker is going to come only after the carnival at Geneva with a new C segment SUV! While there is still some time for that to happen, the SUV has been spied for the first time in Europe!
The folks at Top Speed have posted spy pictures of the SUV which looks reasonably big and definitely larger than Renegade. The report adds that the yet-unnamed SUV will be powered by 2.0 litre engine producing somewhere around 160 to 184 horses. Torque output is expected to be somewhere around 200 to 232 Nm. Transmission duties may be administered by a 9 speed automatic gearbox. Exact details can only be expected to emerge closer to its global unveil at Geneva next year.
While there is no confirmation yet, but this may be the SUV which has been speculated to be manufactured in India and going by the size, it may be a Fortuner/Endeavour rival in the making.
FCA and Jeep have high expectations from the Indian market and have already started expanding the existing Ranjangaon facility in Aurangabad with an investment of 280 million dollars. Production at the updated facility is expected to begin only in 2017, just in line for a new SUV and this could be it….
