There is no doubt in the fact that Fiat makes some of the best looking cars in the respective segments but its sales figures have not been very encouraging. Avventura is the best crossover-hatch in the segment (heck others like Etios Cross are here just for the sake of it!) and comes with enhanced ground clearance, bigger tyres etc.
Fiat recently introduced the Avventura powered by Abarth which had very similar looks with the regular version. At the Auto Expo 2016, they unveiled the Urban Cross which looks more modern and is naturally the next Avventura.
We managed to speak with Fiat India’s President and Managing Director, Mr Kevin Flynn recently and he revealed that the Urban Cross will become a derivative of the Avventura brand. Now this is a confusing statement and we believe Mr Flynn inferred that Urban Cross will be launched in the Abarth tune only and it may NOT be offered on the regular Avventura models.
In its official press release, Fiat has already confirmed that the Urban Cross will come with the 1.4 litre T-Jet mill which produces 140 bhp of maximum power and 210 Nm of peak torque.
Mr Flynn also added that he sees the Urban Cross as an opportunity and that the concept model was developed indigenously within a time span of 8 months. The car will be centred towards the city based audience. Apart from bringing in new models he also plans to strengthen the dealer network.

What do you think – is it a sensible ploy from Fiat or do you have a better understanding of his statement?
