Volvo Confirms X1, B-Class Competitor – V40 Cross Country for India, Expected to Cost Under Rs 30 Lakh

The Swedish car maker, Volvo has confirmed its V40 Cross Country  for India. It’ a premium crossover/softroader, based on the new 5-Door  V40 Hatch. This car will settle its position in the premium crossover/soft-roader segment of India and will compete with BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz B-Class.

To make it distinctive from its sibling hatch, Volvo has added some features to make it look more rugged:

  • New Front and Rear bumper
  • New side sills with contrasting inserts
  • New front grille
  • New Day Time Running Lights (DRL)
  • Rear ‘Skid Plate’
  • Alloy style body kit

As for the powertrain options, the Indian V40 Cross Country will sport a 2.0-Litre diesel mill that will churn out 163 BHP and is married to a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. This car will hit the showrooms by March, 2013 and could be priced below the Rs. 30 Lakhs mark.
