Tata’s Upcoming All-New Products: Compact SUV & MUV After Premium Hatch & Kite

Tata’s next weapons after the Kite and the premium hatchback we talked about earlier are going to be a new MPV and SUV according to Zigwheels.com. They say both of these will hit the roads by the end of 2016 or early 2017.

Now, this is a little confusing since, according to what has been in the air for sometime, is the rumor that Tata will launch a new compact SUV by next year. We believe these guys are NOT talking about the same compact SUV and this is an all-new SUV that Tata may be working on. The SUV in question will not be a full-fledged one (the one based on the Freelander is different) but a compact SUV to take on the likes of the Duster, EcoSport, and the upcoming S101/102 by Mahindra.

The SUV, we believe, will be based on the Nexon concept showcased during the Auto Expo in February. It they manage to pull off anything close to what was showcased, we have something really ‘fantastic’ in pipeline. But, the past record of Tata doesn’t really let us feel so considering how Tata missed launching the Pixel, Megapixel, Storme Mountain Rescue & Ladakh Editions.

The Nexon concept also boasted of a 1.2L Smart-Boosted petrol engine, chugging out 110PS of power and 170Nm of torque, an incredible top speed of 180kmph, and all this with a mind boggling mileage figure of 17.6kmpl.

Well this is not the first time Tata has shown us a brilliant concept and forgotten all about it as we said earlier, but this time it might just be different, as the company is experiencing some of its worst times. This era of rehabilitation which Tata has induced on itself is their last ditch effort to snatch back the lost ground. And if the first step with the Bolt and the Zest is anything to reckon with, Tata is seriously aiming to rise up the ante for its competition.

Apart from the SUV, the same UV platform will reportedly produce an MPV which will go against the Ertiga, Mobilio and others. The MUV will be targeted as a non-commercial people mover designed specifically for large families.

Apart from all these products, Tata is also working on a premium SUV in collaboration of Jaguar-Land Rover, which is also scheduled to be out by the end of 2017 (More Details).

So, its a lot cooking up at Tata. They really need to better their quality (as well as perception) before anything else and they already know this!
