If you have been following us for sometime, you must have read our story on March 04th when we revealed that Tata will launch the Zest in India by June and here we are with a concrete update.
According to one of our source, Tata has finalized the launch date of their most important car – Zest compact sedan! And the date happens to be not too far – Friday 4th of July 2014. Please note that this is the internally decided date and depending upon various factors they may even advance the launch by a few days but it will not be after the date we have mentioned!
This is sure to bring about a smile to all of you who were waiting for the Zest and must ease your decision on which compact sedan to put your money on!
In terms of engines, Tata Zest, as you already know, will sport the 90PS 1.3L diesel engine as well as the 1.2L 85PS Turbocharged REVOTRON petrol engine. But the most important bit here is the Automatic (AMT) gearbox. With the Automated Gear Shifter on the diesel Quadrajet engine, Zest will become the cheapest automatic diesel sedan in the country.
Another information which we have managed to get is about the mysterious grille which has been spied on some test mules. According to our source, production version of Zest MAY be launched with the new smarter grille.
The car will reach dealerships in June for a ‘first look’ to customers and the company may also allow test drives and open bookings. For now, there is no indication from Tata about the discontinuation of Indigo eCS and we believe Zest will sell alongside it, obviously as a more premium model.
